What resolution is the TIFF image?

Pages render at 150 DPI by default, which is crisp on screen and good enough to print. Raise the DPI in the options panel for a higher-resolution TIFF when you need to zoom in.
Will the text in the TIFF stay selectable?

No. A TIFF is a raster image, so text becomes pixels and is no longer selectable or searchable. If you need selectable text, convert the DOC to PDF or to a TIFF document with OCR instead.
Does the TIFF have a transparent background?

Page backgrounds render as solid white by default. For formats that support an alpha channel you can request a transparent background in the options so only the page content shows.
Are tables and charts from the DOC preserved in the TIFF?
