When JPG supports an alpha channel (PNG, WebP, GIF) and the original TIFF had transparency, we keep it. Converting to a format without transparency (JPG, BMP) fills transparent areas with white by default.

Will the converted JPG have the same dimensions as my TIFF?

Why is my converted JPG file larger than the original TIFF?

If JPG is lossless and TIFF was lossy (or vice versa), file size will change. PNG (lossless) is typically larger than JPG (lossy) for photographs but smaller for solid-color graphics and screenshots.
