Pages render at 150 DPI by default, which is crisp on screen and good enough to print. Raise the DPI in the options panel for a higher-resolution BMP when you need to zoom in.
Will the text in the BMP stay selectable?

No. A BMP is a raster image, so text becomes pixels and is no longer selectable or searchable. If you need selectable text, convert the DOC to PDF or to a BMP document with OCR instead.
Does the BMP have a transparent background?

Page backgrounds render as solid white by default. For formats that support an alpha channel you can request a transparent background in the options so only the page content shows.
Are tables and charts from the DOC preserved in the BMP?

Yes. Tables, charts, shapes, and inline images are all part of the rendered page, so they appear in the BMP exactly as laid out in the DOC.
