When PNG supports an alpha channel (PNG, WebP, GIF) and the original BMP had transparency, we keep it. Converting to a format without transparency (JPG, BMP) fills transparent areas with white by default.
Can I batch-convert BMP images to PNG?

Will the converted PNG have the same dimensions as my BMP?

Why is my converted PNG file larger than the original BMP?

If PNG is lossless and BMP was lossy (or vice versa), file size will change. PNG (lossless) is typically larger than JPG (lossy) for photographs but smaller for solid-color graphics and screenshots.
