DOC to PNG Conversion FAQ
How does PDF.to convert a DOC document to a PNG image?
+
PDF.to lays out each page of your DOC exactly as it would print, then renders that page to a PNG image. You get one PNG per page, capturing fonts, layout, tables, and figures as a flat picture.
Why turn a DOC into a PNG image?
+
A PNG image of a DOC page is universally viewable, cannot be reflowed or accidentally edited, and drops straight into a slide, chat, or web page. It is the simplest way to share a DOC as a fixed snapshot.
Will the text in the PNG stay selectable?
+
No. A PNG is a raster image, so text becomes pixels and is no longer selectable or searchable. If you need selectable text, convert the DOC to PDF or to a PNG document with OCR instead.
Are tables and charts from the DOC preserved in the PNG?
+
Yes. Tables, charts, shapes, and inline images are all part of the rendered page, so they appear in the PNG exactly as laid out in the DOC.
Can I batch-convert several DOC files to PNG?
+
Several files in one job need a paid plan. Free use is one file per conversion, one conversion an hour. On a paid plan you can add several files to one job, then download each result on its own or all of them in one ZIP.
Is the DOC to PNG conversion free?
+
Yes. One conversion an hour is free, with no account needed, for a file within the free size limit. A paid plan removes the hourly limit and the size limit, and lets you add several files to one job.
Does PDF.to keep my DOC document?
+
Only for a short time. Your uploaded DOC and the resulting PNG are deleted from our servers automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. Nobody reads the contents, and nothing is shared.
