TXT to MD Conversion FAQ
How do I convert TXT to MD?
+
Drop your TXT file onto the upload area. PDF.to reads the source structure and writes an equivalent MD document you can download immediately. MD is Markdown, John Gruber’s 2004 plain-text syntax for writing structured documents that stay readable as source.
Can PDF.to batch-convert many TXT files at once?
+
Several files in one job need a paid plan. Free use is one file per conversion, one conversion an hour. On a paid plan you can add several files to one job, then download each result on its own or all of them in one ZIP.
What is the largest TXT file I can convert?
+
The free plan has a size limit that varies by file type; PRO allows much larger files. Documents that large usually have heavy embedded images.
Is the TXT to MD converter free?
+
Yes. One conversion an hour is free, with no account needed, for a file within the free size limit. A paid plan removes the hourly limit and the size limit, and lets you add several files to one job.
Does PDF.to keep my TXT content?
+
Only for a short time. Your uploaded TXT and the resulting MD are deleted from our servers automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. Nobody reads the contents, and nothing is shared.
Why does my MD look slightly different from my TXT?
+
Different document formats have different default fonts, margins, and pagination rules. We preserve content faithfully; minor visual differences in fonts or page breaks are expected.
