EPUB to GIF Conversion FAQ
Will the text in the GIF be selectable?
+
No. A GIF is a raster image, so any text from the EPUB becomes pixels and is no longer selectable or searchable. Convert the EPUB to PDF or a document if you need live text.
How does PDF.to handle the reflowable layout of a EPUB?
+
Because a EPUB has no fixed pages, PDF.to applies a standard reading layout before rendering, so each GIF shows a clean, consistently formatted page rather than an arbitrary device view.
Does the GIF keep illustrations from the EPUB?
+
Yes. Inline images and illustrations from the EPUB are part of the rendered page, so they appear in the GIF exactly where they sit in the ebook.
Can I batch-convert several EPUB files to GIF?
+
Several files in one job need a paid plan. Free use is one file per conversion, one conversion an hour. On a paid plan you can add several files to one job, then download each result on its own or all of them in one ZIP.
Does the converter handle DRM-protected EPUB files?
+
No. PDF.to only renders unprotected EPUB files to GIF; it does not remove DRM.
Is the EPUB to GIF conversion free?
+
Yes. One conversion an hour is free, with no account needed, for a file within the free size limit. A paid plan removes the hourly limit and the size limit, and lets you add several files to one job.
Does PDF.to keep my EPUB after conversion?
+
Only for a short time. Your uploaded EPUB and the resulting GIF are deleted from our servers automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. Nobody reads the contents, and nothing is shared.
