Each frame is decoded from the MP4 (lossless) and re-encoded as BMP. If BMP is lossless (PNG), no quality is lost. If BMP is JPG, we use high quality (90) by default.
Will the BMP stills be timestamped or numbered?

Yes — file names are zero-padded sequence numbers (BMP_00001.BMP, BMP_00002.BMP, ...) so they sort correctly. The options panel can also embed the source timecode in EXIF.

We normalize to a constant frame rate internally before extraction, so the BMP stills are spaced evenly in time regardless of how the source was encoded.
