📙 Green's Functions for Solid State Physicists by S. Doniach, E. H. Sondheimer — free epub

"Green's functions for Solid State Physicists" has helped introduce several generations of condensed matter physics graduate students to the very powerful ideas of quantum many body theory and some of their applications, particularly those in the physics of itinerant magnetism and superconductivity. It is pedagogical in philosophy, and is based on the idea of leading the reader to understanding sophisticated formalism through the study of simple examples which demonstrate the formal points. In the reprint edition, two new chapters have been added to the original text to provide an introduction to the recent developments in the physics of correlated electron systems and, in particular, of high-T[subscript c] superconductivity.

Green's Functions for Solid State Physicists
Green's Functions for Solid State Physicists download pdf by S. Doniach, E. H. Sondheimer

I liked this book a lot because it teaches this stuff through examples of when some seemingly abstract quantities are actually observables, but this approach is not always as lucid as a formal text because the general results need sometimes be distilled f...
