📙 Coastal Fluxes in the Anthropocene: The Land-Ocean Interactions in the Coastal Zone Project of the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme by Christopher J. Crossland, Dan Baird (auth.), Christopher J. Crossland, Hartwig H. Kremer, Han J. Lindeboom, Janet I. Marshall Crossland, Martin D. A. Le Tissier (eds.) — epub download

In global coastal zones, the major fabric of goods and services for human welfare as well as global changes are extraordinarily visible. They are shaped by natural Earth systems processes on a planetary scale, which are reflected in a continuously adapting coastal environment. Now, in the "Anthropocene", human society is a greater catalyst for change - impacting and modifying coastal processes. This book synthesizes knowledge on coastal and riverine material fluxes, biogeochemical processes and indications of change, and the human influence, before looking at future research and management needs. It is a milestone rather than a destination on the journey which continues under the new International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP), the International Human Dimensions Programme on Global Environmental Change (IHDP) and the LOICZ II (Land-Ocean Interactions in the Coastal Zone) Project.

This book synthesizes knowledge of coastal and riverine material fluxes, biogeochemical processes and indications of change, both natural, and increasingly human-initiated. Here, the authors assess coastal flux in the past and present, and in future under...

Holocene land-ocean interaction and environmental change around the North Sea
Holocene land-ocean interaction and environmental change around the North Sea free epub by Ian Shennan, Geological Society of London

The majority of research presented in this volume arises from the Land-Ocean Evolution Perspecitve Study (LOEPS), which was one component of the Land-Ocean Interaction Study (LOIS - funded by the Natural Environment Research Council). The main aim of LOEPS...

Improving the Scientific Foundation for Atmosphere-land-ocean Simulations: Report of a Workshop
Improving the Scientific Foundation for Atmosphere-land-ocean Simulations: Report of a Workshop free epub by Committee on Challenges in Representing Physical Processes in Coupled Atmosphere-Land-Ocean Models,

The National Academies' Board on Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (BASC) held a workshop to explore and evaluate current efforts to model physical processes of coupled atmosphere-land-ocean (A-L-O) models. Numerical models of the atmosphere and ocean are ...

Carbon and Nutrient Fluxes in Continental Margins: A Global Synthesis download pdf by Kon-Kee Liu, Larry Atkinson, Renato A. Quiñones, Liana Talaue-McManus (eds.)

This book is a product of the joint JGOFS (Joint Global Ocean Flux Study)/LOICZ (Land–Ocean Interactions in the Coastal Zone) Continental Margins Task Team which was established to facilitate continental margins research in the two projects. It contains s...

The Land/Ocean Interactions in the Coastal Zone of West and Central Africa
The Land/Ocean Interactions in the Coastal Zone of West and Central Africa epub download by Salif Diop, Jean-Paul Barusseau, Cyr Descamps (eds.)

Although the main focus of this book is on the estuaries, its scope goes well beyond this particular coastal feature. Indeed, the estuary can only be considered as part of the life cycle of the entire river and the marine area it feeds into: an area parti...

Air-Ice-Ocean Interaction: Turbulent Ocean Boundary Layer Exchange Processes
Air-Ice-Ocean Interaction: Turbulent Ocean Boundary Layer Exchange Processes download pdf by Miles McPhee

At a time when the polar regions are undergoing rapid and unprecedented change, understanding exchanges of momentum, heat and salt at the ice-ocean interface is critical for realistically predicting the future state of sea ice. By offering a measurement p...

Dynamics of Surface Waves in Coastal Waters: Wave-Current-Bottom Interactions
Dynamics of Surface Waves in Coastal Waters: Wave-Current-Bottom Interactions download pdf by Hu Huang

Wave motion is one of the broadest scientific subjects in nature, especially water waves in the near-shore region which present more richness and complexity of variability with respect to deep-water waves. Dynamics of Surface Waves in Coastal Waters: Wave...
