📙 Approaches to Heavy Metal Tolerance in Plants by Sumira Jan, Javid Ahmad Parray (auth.) — pdf free

This book summarizes the development of highly tolerant cultivars via plant breeding, genomics, and proteomic approaches. This book could supplement data for budding researchers by providing extensive ongoing measures to improve the detoxification competence of appropriate species via wide range of plant improvement approaches. It also offers insights into heavy metal signalling, metal chelation by organic acids, amino acids, and phosphate derivatives, and illustrates other strategies that have been extensively investigated, such as genetic engineering, ecological improvement of the rhizosphere using mycorrhiza and chelator enhanced phytoremediation technology. This book could provide simple anthology for undergraduate and postgraduate students to understand fundamentals of heavy metal pollution in the environment. The book closes with a prelude to an inclusive study of biodiversity that could provide new biofilters for metal detoxification.

Detoxification of Heavy Metals
Detoxification of Heavy Metals epub download by Jyoti Agrawal, Irena Sherameti, Ajit Varma (auth.), Irena Sherameti, Ajit Varma (eds.)

Heavy metals are severe environmental pollutants, and many of them are toxic even at very low concentrations. With industrial development, soil pollution with heavy metal elements have dramatically increased. The uptake of heavy metals via plants that are...

Heavy Metal Stress in Plants
Heavy Metal Stress in Plants download pdf by José M. Palma, Dharmendra K. Gupta, Francisco J. Corpas (auth.), Dharmendra K. Gupta, Francisco J. Corpas, José M. Palma (eds.)

Plants possess a range of potential cellular mechanisms that may be involved in the detoxification of heavy metals and thus tolerance to metal stress. Metal toxicity causes multiple direct and indirect effects in plants that concern practically all physio...

Soil Heavy Metals: Soil Heavy Metals
Soil Heavy Metals: Soil Heavy Metals free download by Helwig Hohl, Ajit Varma (auth.), Dr. Irena Sherameti, Dr. Ajit Varma (eds.)

Human activities have dramatically changed the composition and organisation of soils. Industrial and urban wastes, agricultural application and also mining activities resulted in an increased concentration of heavy metals in soils. How plants and soil mic...

Dynamics and Bioavailability of Heavy Metals in the Rootzone
Dynamics and Bioavailability of Heavy Metals in the Rootzone free download by H. Magdi Selim

Concerns regarding heavy metal contamination in terrestrial ecosystems have prompted increasing efforts on limiting their bioavailability in the root zone. The complexity of the hydrologic system gives rise to the need for understanding the fate and trans...

Metal Toxicity in Plants: Perception, Signaling and Remediation
Metal Toxicity in Plants: Perception, Signaling and Remediation pdf free by Mashiro Inouhe, Huagang Huang (auth.), Dharmendra K. Gupta, Luisa M. Sandalio (eds.)

Heavy metal accumulation in soil and water from natural sources or anthropogenic activities have produced severe environmental contamination in some parts of the world due to the persistence of metals in the environment by their accumulation throughout th...

Heavy Metal Stress in Plants: From Biomolecules to Ecosystems
Heavy Metal Stress in Plants: From Biomolecules to Ecosystems free download by Maria Greger (auth.), M. N. V. Prasad (eds.)

Heavy metal phytotoxicity has been known for more than a century. Therefore, it is astonishing that interest in the effects of heavy metals on organisms has been aroused only recently. Research in the past years, however, has confirmed the immense damage ...

Plants and Heavy Metals
Plants and Heavy Metals free epub by Giovanni DalCorso (auth.), Antonella Furini (eds.)

This title focuses on the many aspects of the interaction between plants and heavy metals. Not only it describes the effects of heavy metal toxicity on the plant cell and its organs but it also examines the mechanisms that plants adopt to scavenge heavy m...

Heavy Metals Release in Soils
Heavy Metals Release in Soils free download by H. Magdi Selim, Donald L. Sparks

Understanding the mechanisms associated with metal complexes and the sequestering metal contaminants in the environment is essential for effective remediation. Heavy Metal Release in Soils describes and quantifies desorption/release kinetics and dissolut...
